BIOGRAPHY

In the fall of 2020 Vera-Lotte will join the ensemble of the Wiener Staatsoper. There you will be able to experience her in roles such as the Fifth Maid (Elektra, conducted by Franz Welser-Möst, directed by: Harry Kupfer) Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel, conducted by: Cornelius Meister) and Micaëla (Carmen, musical direction: Andrés Orozco-Estrada, directed by Calixto Bieito). In the new production of Hans Werner Henze’s “Das verratene Meer” she will take over the role of Fusako at Bo Skovhus’s side (directed by: Jossi Wieler/Sergio Morabito, conducted by: Simone Young). At the Stuttgart State Opera she will debut in the title role in Händel‘s “Alcina“ in Jossi Wieler’s famous interpretation.

From 2017 to 2020, Vera-Lotte Boecker was a member of the ensemble of the Komische Oper Berlin and could be heard in three new productions in the most recent season: In “The Bassarids” by Hans Werner Henze as Autonoe (directed by: Barrie Kosky / musical direction: Vladimir Jurowski), which she had already sung at the Salzburg Festival 2018 in Krzysztof Warlikowski’s staging, conducted by Kent Nagano; in Jaromir Weinberger’s operetta “Spring Storms” as Lydia (directed by Barrie Kosky); and as Violetta Valéry in Verdi’s La Traviata. The planned premiere of The Rake’s Progress directed by Kirill Serebrennikov where she was to debut in the role of Ann Trulove, planned for late June, has unfortunately been cancelled due to the Corona crisis.

At the Komische Oper, she debuted as Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Micaëla (Carmen), Viktoria (Viktoria and Her Husar)and Musetta (La Boheme). She has had international guest performances in Beijing, Tokyo, Paris and New York as Pamina in Barrie Kosky’s acclaimed Magic Flute.

In addition to this, she performed this season at the Stuttgart State Opera as Princess Natalie of Orange in Henze’s “Der Prinz von Homburg”. This production by Stephan Kimmig is also available as a DVD. Other recordings include Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Dresdner Symphoniker conducted by Michael Sanderling.

In 2016, Vera-Lotte Boecker attracted international attention at the Munich Opera Festival when she stepped in at short notice in the role of Eudoxie in the new production of La Juive,beside Roberto Alagna (Calixto Bieito/Bertrand de Billy).

Vera-Lotte’s broad repertoire ranges from Mozart to George Benjamin, in whose opera “Written on Skin” she has already sung the role of Agnès in several productions.

The soprano was a prizewinner at the Vokal Genial vocal competition held by the Konzertgesellschaft of Munich and Bavarian Radio (1st Prize, audience prize and orchestra prize), as well as receiving scholarships from the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb competition and the Richard Wagner Association of Mannheim. She studied vocal performance at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music and at the Berlin University of the Arts, completing her studies with honours. She supplemented her training in the opera studio of the Royal DanishTheatre in Copenhagen.
